Subjects and genres

My background is in academic proofreading and editing, but I have worked across a range of subjects and genres: non-fiction, promotional, corporate, educational, web content and more.

My work has global reach, assisting clients from around the world. My English language teaching experience has given me particular expertise in supporting writers whose first language is not English. I am also comfortable working with both UK and US English and can easily adapt my editorial judgement to a wide range of styles.

After sending out a call for help Chris reached out and offered his services on my web design project–a psycho-educational site describing four different types of burnout for helping professionals. He copyedited all the text on the site and his work was sensible, helpful, and straightforward. He was very kind, professional, and easy to work with. I highly recommend his services.”

“Engaging Chris helped to take the tedium out of polishing written content, and his positive attitude, creative thinking and zero fuss approach always made dealing with such tasks a seamless experience. From copyediting and proofreading blog and social media posts in line with house style, through captioning images of our clients’ work in the language of international development, to nuancing the finer points of the company’s GDPR compliance policy, Chris readily took whatever he was given and turned it into something we could feel proud of.”
Robin, founder of Communication for Development – London, UK

“I enlisted Chris’ services to proofread my personal statement for an application for an extremely competitive higher education course. Despite the fact that my personal statement had previously been vetted by two other professional academics, Chris highlighted several areas of language, grammar and layout that needed to be revisited. His suggestions enabled the piece to be grammatically correct and greatly enhanced the clarity and impact of the writing. I was very impressed by the insight he provided and felt that his input helped me greatly in producing a highly effective and ultimately successful personal statement.

“Chris helped edit and proofread documentation required for my Australian Permanent Residency (PR). The Australian PR program attracts a lot of people from around the world, and I needed my application to stand out through its simplicity and clarity. Chris was perfect for this task – he was easy to work with and made sure my essays and supporting documentation were concise and immediately conveyed the value of my work experience, making it easier for the case worker. I’d highly recommend Chris.”
